Sars-CoV-2 (COVID-19)

Breastfeeding has not been identified as a significant source of transmission of the Sars-COV-2 coronavirus that causes COVID-19 disease. Lactating parents who are infectious with COVID-19 are advised to wash their hands and wear a mask when directly breastfeeding, expressing milk, or when holding their infant(s).1 For more information on treatment of COVID-19, please see the section on COVID-19 Medications.

While lactating parents should practice good hand hygiene and follow appropriate contact precautions, there is no absolute indication to pump and dump.
