Hepatitis C Virus

Despite the fact that hepatitis C RNA has been found in breastmilk of lactating parents infected with hepatitis C, transmission of hepatitis C virus has not been documented to occur through breastfeeding. Lactating people who are positive for hepatitis C virus should consider refraining from breastfeeding if they have cracked/bleeding nipples until the nipples are healed.1 There is no absolute indication to pump and dump.
